Back in the Black Part 58
Anyone else dealing with a furlough or layoff? I guess as long as unemployment kicks in, I can choose to view it as I’m getting paid to make comics. 😉
I still think these photos of the Allied Avenger soaring through the cosmos are the best “spaceship in flight” shots I’ve ever taken. I accomplished them by pausing an outer space scene on my television, laying the TV on its back and placing the ship on the screen. It provided a sense of depth.

Nice work on the Allied Avenger special effects. The ship really looks like it’s floating/flying in zero-g.
Thanks, Karsin! I’m going to have to try and use this effect some more.
I always thought the Allied Avenger is one of the best-looking small-scale ships in all of Classic Space, right up there with X-1 Patrol Craft. It’s hard to show the ship from a bad angle, and it has all the functionality you’d expect from a system patrol craft-scale fighter. Too bad it was Blacktron II instead of I…I smell a MOC idea!
We’re all working and schooling from home here (Chicagoland, IL). Between full-time work-from-home expectations and helping the little kds with schoolwork, I’ve never been busier in my life. I laugh a little when I hear of people being bored, I don’t have the time! But for sure it beats unemployment; I hope you and everyone else is hanging in there and staying safe.
Thanks, Oldfan. Glad you and your family are well (in spite of the hectic schedule)! I’m keeping busy even on furlough; never a shortage of projects and things to do around the house.
I’ve shot the Allied Avenger from all possible angles, so I can attest to that! A Blacktron I version is a great idea. I’ll have to see if that’s possible with the parts in those colors.
