Bootlegs Part 1
This is a comic I pictured in my head for a long time – Schwartz and Galanos involved in parallel but similar events and then they meet up and the stories merge. Hopefully, it shows the similarities and differences between them, and their respective dynamics with their robots.
– This is not an official LEGO comic. This is a tribute.

Nice narrative device man!
Did the Command Base actually come with that landing pad plate or just the two crater ones? Do they even still use the crater base plate? Man base plates feel so rare nowadays…
Remember how I said I had an urge to buy a giant LEGO set? Well I gave in and went and got the Scorpion Pyramid from the Pharaoh Quest set. That thing is a beauty! Big but compact enough it wasn’t a hassle to store! So many traps and gimmick and those Anubis guards are flippin’ sweet! Now I want to get the Cobra Statue set so I can the female character, she’s the only one from that serie I’m missing.
The Intergalactic Command Base came with two lunar moon plates. I just picked up the landing pad sometime along the way. I’d love to see base plates like this make a comeback.
VERY nice choice with the Scorpion Pyramid. I think it’s an instant classic with incredible play value and is impossibly cool. The whole Pharaoh’s Quest theme was great top to bottom. It’s a shame that it seems to have ended. The Cobra set is cool, too. I love how the giant cobra is “controlled” by a minifig holding a smaller snake in each hand.
Yeah that pyramid is one for the ages! That theme is indeed great, even if it is only about four explorers stealing ancient treasures and blowing up historical sites with dynamite :p
If I get the cobra all I’l be missing will be the set with the bike and the sphinx… not sure on those two though. I might as well get an extra Scarab Attack to get another scarab and hide them under the stairs of the pyramid!
You know what was the last set I got with a baseplate? Not counting the Kingdoms Blacksmith Attack set I got back in october? http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/6575_Polar_Base
And that wasn’t a set with a big base plate, just four small ones! In 2001! Before that though it was this beauty:

Everything else has been small sets and random minifigures!
Still baseplates are just getting rare… like that one LEGO City street corner set, back in our days that would have included two baseplates! A straight street and a ‘T’ street section I bet. Like this set I had as a kid: http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/6393_Big_Rig_Truck_Stop
Haha, that’s so true about Pharaoh Quest. Granted, Indiana Jones was pretty much the same thing. I think PQ was one of the best themes in years. I’ll admit to buying every set, which is something I never do! Thankfully it wasn’t as large as other themes.
I hadn’t thought about it before, but base plates really are a lost art.
Hey, Space joined the BCN. Been waiting to see that connection forever.
You mentioned on Eurobricks this was a huge plotsy arc – can’t wait to see what occurs.
Yeah, I had to wait until I had my own site to be able to add the BCN code. This story will have a bit going on. But I might break briefly from it this week for the Christmas comic, which I thought up and shot spontaneously today.
Oooh, interesting! I’m betting that Schwartz and Galanos aren’t in the kind of trouble they’re thinking of, though. If it’s really going to be more ‘plotsy’ and epic, I’m suspecting ‘foreign involvement’ of the space kind. : P
I don’t think I called it epic – I’ll let you guys decide that. But this particular story is more ambitious in that it features a lot more locations in one story than I normally use. And I suppose that’s because it has a more involved plot.
