Time Bomb Part 34
Modular Space Transport (#6892) was one of the classic LEGO Space sets I clearly remember having as a child. I have many good (and clear!) memories of playing with that set and building it into other ships. I had this crazy modular ship with like 10 individual components, like it was Vehicle Voltron or something. I think there’s a photo of it somewhere in my Mom’s old albums!
In any case, Modular Space Transport was of course one of the sets I most wanted to own again, but the prices were prohibitive. I eventually found one for an acceptable cost, in great shape, and complete with the original instructions. And it was perfect timing, because I needed commentators for Schwartz’s and Galanos’ game of lunar soccer golf!

Slapstick with Lego. I love it! Right proper chuckle as the ball fades into space :p
Haha, thank you. Those shots still make me chuckle, too. 🙂
Of course we want to see the photo of that ship now. 😉
I’ve got to dig and find it!
I gotta say, 6892 is one of my LEAST favorite Classic Space sets. While some of the parts are good spacey greebles, the overall design is less than solid, and the use of those Basic wheels is atrocious for a Space set. It’s even worse when you realize that 6926 Mobile Recovery Vehicle is the exact same set with the exact same modular features, released in the same year, has the same two yellow spacemen, and executes the concept 1000 times better than 6892.
But it’s Classic Space, so of course I have a copy…
There was quite a bit of repetition. But the glow of the nostalgia is strong.
