Cosmic Cruiser Part 23
This tale was inspired in part by San Borondón, or Saint Brendan’s Island, the mysterious vanishing isle said to exist among the Canaries. There’s also a twisted dash of Star Trek’s “The Cage,” and I might have re-watched Little Shop of Horrors recently!

What a tale… I don’t even know if I should feel sorry for the guy or not. I love this strip’s versatility to go from humorous stories to this on a dime and it works perfectly all the same. Though maybe some might call the use of that new Galaxy Explorer set’s promo pictures here might he “cheating”, I don’t mind
Thank you kindly, Commander. I wanted Brendan to end up being a challenging character. You get to know him and later learn about the horrible crimes he committed in a moment of rage and passion. I certainly intended his fate to have a sense of punishment, an end to the running, and for the mysterious planet to feel like a sort of an inescapable Hell. Although the nature of Morgana is certainly meant to be a bit nebulous. Does Brendan live on with her, in a way?
Indeed I would entertain the thought that he isn’t simply eaten.
