WAY back in 2008 – the year this comic began – an awesome reader named Alex Amar GENEROUSLY mailed me a DACTA LEGO Space set. It’s a very rare set, released to schools in the 1980s as an educational aid, but he was motivated by my inclusion of DACTA astronauts and DACTA as a news-reporting entity in the comic. To my great shame, I never included the set in the comic (outside of one vehicle). It wasn’t because I didn’t want to, but because the DACTA Space set was not released with instructions, so all I had to go by was the photo of the set on the box. I tried a few times to assemble it but failed in frustration each time. Eventually, a couple other owners of the DACTA Space set have taken cracks at building it and posted several photos online. Thanks to their efforts (and despite no one building the set quite the same), I was finally able to put together the set in a way that I think is fairly accurate, although surely not exact, to the original box art. It’s a great relief that, after all these years, I can finally properly thank Alex (if he’s still reading) by including his awesome gift in the comic. Finally, we see DACTA HQ!

— This is not an official LEGO comic. This is a tribute. Recommended for older kids and adults.
