Reflecting Backwards Part 1
I can’t believe it’s taken this long, but Galanos finally has a solo story (w/o Schwartz). This comic ended up reminding me of the beginning of every episode of classic Star Trek. “OMG, Captain, a strange threat is beckoning us from the planet and pretending to be friendly! I know, let’s all beam down!”
I don’t remember a single threat that pretended to be friendly, but a few that thought of their taking the ship hostage as a friendly gesture.
Almost all planet-based threats took the ship hostage.
A few warned the ship not to approach, which the ship always ignored.
Some threats turned out to be friendly.
That seems to be the essence of Star Trek: That what looks scary and hostile at first is often helpful and friendly upon inspection. Although there is a lot of “villain of the week” writing in there, too.
