If I fled as far away as I could drive, I’d probably get two Walmarts from my house before deciding I’m bored of the whole enterprise and turning around.

I dream of one day having my own home office with ample shelf space on which to display my LEGO sets. And I could take them down when it’s time to shoot photos, like Mr. Rogers and The Land of Make Believe. That’s the main reason I want to own a house, anyway, let’s be honest. 😀

There actually is a Venus flytrap produced by LEGO, that comes in its Jungle Explorers sets. I even bought the parts to make one but in the end decided that the plant I had from the G.I. Joe toyline was more fearsome… and alien (compared to LEGO bricks).

This tale was inspired in part by San Borondón, or Saint Brendan’s Island, the mysterious vanishing isle said to exist among the Canaries. There’s also a twisted dash of Star Trek’s “The Cage,” and I might have re-watched Little Shop of Horrors recently!

It just hit me that not long ago, I reached a huge milestone for SPACE: The Comic. Today’s page is the 501st comic I’ve produced since returning in 2017. The original run of SPACE: The Comic (2008-2013) was 483 pages. (For the record, the milestone was passed with “Cosmic Cruiser” Part 9.) Following the long, dark silence of this comic, I couldn’t have imagined that I would outdo my younger, spunkier self who had much more time on his hands!
