Bootlegs Part 4
I was excited when LEGO introduced the Classic Space shirt minifigure torso in 2009 (the 30th anniversary of Classic Space), because it was such a great callback to a legendary theme from the past. But I couldn’t help notice that my favorite Classic Space minifig was missing from the design. I was sure Schwartz wouldn’t miss that either, and would bring it up in the most uncomfortable of ways!

Ah! That’s super clever! Jokes like this are why I love this comic. : D
Really, that episode is one of my (many) favorites, and to see it used like this by Schwartz, especially putting a twist on that ‘bias’ joke there. Great job!
Well played Schwartz!
Though I think Schwartz deserves a cooler helmet :p maybe an actual black knight helmet hahaha.
I miss the old Space theme with its factions and organisations.
Yeah, his outdated helmet is a bit… underwhelming? But I want to keep his uniform authentic.
True… though I think it wouldn’t hurt to do a gag strip about Schwartz trying out other helmets :p
He did have a short run with King Neptune’s helmet. 🙂
I think you may have started something. I was looking on eBay the last few days to see if I could pick up some of the Lego figures I foolishly traded away in my teens, and couldn’t find a single Lego Space figure in the solid black suit. There seems to have been run on vintage “Schwartz” figures. Today I found one person selling them here FOR $19.99 EACH!!! That’s right Schwartz is already selling for premiums prices and before you know it Galanos will be too! Everyone get your Galanos and Schwartz figures before its too late!
P.S. Thanks for the unprompted link exchange! That’s the first one I’ve ever done without, ya know, discussing it first. Greatly appreciated!
I’ve been accused before of driving up the prices of Classic LEGO space minifigures and sets. While flattering, I’m not sure the comic’s conservative readership has had that kind of impact. Then again, if only a few of an item are available at any given time, I suppose it’s possible.
For all your LEGO needs, I highly suggest you check out Bricklink. For example, you can get a “Schwartz” of your own for a much more reasonable cost.
Happy to provide the link. I saw you had already done so. Also, I think your comics are great and I appreciate your comments here. Not to mention, the interests you express on your blog are eerily identical to mine. Almost every post I’ve seen, be the subject Highlander or off-brand classic NES game consoles, is something I’m also passionate about. LOL
