Last Face You See Part 2
This is the darkest LEGO comic I’ve done, which reinforces that once in awhile I forego punchlines. The thoughts here are coming from a real place, but this story is important and ties into ongoing storylines. It’ll make more sense later.
– This is not an official LEGO comic. This is a tribute.

This storyline was both amazingly sad and soul-chillingly creepy. Had this just been done in live action or even comic art style it would be the stuff of nightmares. Add in the smiling Lego skull face of Jefferson Dash, and it becomes the stuff of deep psychological trauma.
You mentioned before how writing got you through a tough time in your life. The funny thing is that this comic did that for me. As I reached my early 30s, I sunk into a depression fueled by a persistent sense of mortality, the fear that anything good in life could be lost at any given moment, and a terror about the blankness beyond. That’s what was going on in my head when I wrote this. It came from a very real place. It might seem silly to express these feeling using LEGO and a webcomic, but creating it had the amazing and almost immediate cathartic effect of easing my fears and helping me just enjoy my life again. Writing is a powerful thing.
